Loving Touch Infant Massage

“Human bonding does not occur in a single, magical moment in the delivery room. Like falling in love, it is an ongoing progress that matures over time”

- Sharon Heller, PH.D

What better way to bond with another human being than through touch?

Infant massage provides an important source of tactile stimulation and contains such critical elements of bonding as eye-to-eye contact, smiling, soothing vocal sounds, loving touch, caressing, smell, and mutual interaction. Studies show that bonding increases a parent’s feeling of attachment as well as the desire to nurture and care for their infant. In the situation where both parents are working, daily massage helps compensate for the separation by re-establishing the bond and proving quality time for both parents and baby. Massaging your baby is a beautiful and loving way to begin a lifelong relationship

We are certified infant massage instructors (CIMI) who were personally trained by Diana Moore, founder of The International Loving Touch Foundation, Inc. Diana is one of only two nationally recognized organizations certified to teach a certified infant massage instructors class.

This course consists of two one-hour sessions. Because infants have a short “Active Alert” state, and in order to avoid “over-stimulating” your baby, classes are held once per week over a two week period. Each weekly session concentrates on a different area of the body. Your strokes will be reinforced weekly with the viewing of The Loving Touch Foundation’s “Baby’s First Touch DVD”.

Week 1: We explain the background of massage therapy, the use of natural cold-pressed oils, and the benefits of massage. You will learn the strokes and methods needed to massage the legs, feet and tummy. We will address special needs such as colic and intestinal difficulties like excessive gas and constipation.

Week 2: We will review week one and learn the necessary strokes for massaging the chest, arms face, and back. We will re-demonstrate the strokes for the gassy/colicky baby and also introduce baby stretches. A review of the entire course will end your session.

Upon completion of the course you will receive a Loving Touch approved infant massage instruction booklet and massage oil for your infant.

This is an extremely rewarding experience. You will be amazed at the level of bonding that you and your baby will be able to achieve.

Group Session: $50 per person/couple in a group setting. Minimum of 5 people/couples per session.
